The Community Vitality Collaborative.

The Community Vitality Collaborative (CVC) is an innovative community-academic partnership.

Supporting the community.

The CVC began in 2020 as the Community Vaccine Collaborative, centered on mitigating the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on Black and Latinx communities. From increasing participation in vaccine trials to promoting vaccine uptake, and, more distally, improving trustworthiness of research and health care among minoritized communities.

Centering diverse voices.

The CVC was co-developed with four community organizations in Allegheny County (Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, the Neighborhood Resilience Project, UrbanKind Institute and Casa San Jose) as well as researchers from Pitt to address disparities in vaccine acceptance and uptake among marginalized and minoritized communities.

Focusing on community vitality.

In 2022, the CVC updated its name from the “Community Vaccine Collaborative” to the “Community Vitality Collaborative” to signify the group’s shift toward looking more broadly at public health issues that affect our communities in southwest PA. The group continues to support COVID-19 vaccination efforts and connects over other issues such as Monkeypox, mental health, reproductive justice, gun violence, racism in healthcare, and healthcare barriers for immigrants and refugees.
